Wreck Island to Echo Bay, Port Rawson Bay, and Spider Bay, Ontario

Woke up and got going at a leisurely pace, knowing we didn't have far to go. Made it to Echo Bay and we saw that 4 of the 5 other boats in the bay were stern tied. Ben spotted some stakes in the rocks when we first pulled in and said we'd have to anchor and then he would swim with the line to the stake. I told him that seemed unnecessary and that he should just take the Chicken.

Ben and Moose got into the Chicken with a 300-foot line and my job was to manage the line on the stern and put the Cartermaran into reverse if it seemed like we were getting close to the sailboat in front of us. I managed to get Bear help me with the stern line.

Slowly, the Chicken was able to rotate the Cartermaran about 270° by pulling the stern line that was on the starboard side stern cleat. Ben got close enough to the island and Moose hopped out and looped the stake in the rock. We successfully completed our first stern tie. It took 35 minutes and 4 of us, but we did it!

Next time, Ben said he'd try to get the Cartermaran closer to the rock, to begin with and it should be easier and quicker.

Once we were done, Ben announced that we went to the wrong anchorage (went to Echo Bay, should've gone to Port Rawson Bay first), so we would just flip it and backtrack just a little bit tomorrow. It wasn't too fat and we were just exploring anyway.

Kids fished, I worked out, Ben wasn't feeling well, so he napped and got the water maker running again (nothing was wrong with it- it was still winterized). We played Skip-Bo and watched movies. It was a slow-moving, chilly day. It was cloudy and high of 62°F.

While we were laying in bed, Ben pointed out that he heard fireworks outside for Canada Day tomorrow. I didn't get up to watch them cuz I figured we'd see some tomorrow night.

Canada Day was a beautiful sunny day with a high of 67°F! It felt super warm in the sun. Again, we anchored early. This time in Port Rawson Bay. The kids fished, I worked out, the kids got the kiddie pool blown up and put on the bow and the kids filled it with lake water. We read and started a Skip-Bo tournament. Moose started feeling sick, but kept living his best boat life as much as possible.

After we were there for a bit, Ben and the kids did a stern tie just for fun. I had the kids get dressed in their Americana wear and take 4th of July pictures because sunny days with beautiful scenery are few and far between. The kids figured out how to drive the Chicken without a motor and without oars (like a pulley) back and forth between the Cartermaran and our stern ties.

Cartermaran was the lone boat in the whole bay. There were no fireworks. I should've got up to watch last night's show.

The next morning, we got up and continued on our actual plan. We were anchored by 9:50 am in Spider Bay.

This was another anchorage with spotty service, so we did some more of the same. Kiddie pool, read, workout, movies. The girls started feeling under the weather and i started worrying that we'd have to cancel my sister and her family, but Ben reassured me that since he was already feeling better, they'd be back to normal by the 4th.

Today was the first day in about a week that we turned on the AC instead of keeping the windows open, due to the massive amount of bugs. It was nice while it lasted.
