New London, CT to New Baltimore, NY

6/1 Anchored at Duck Island- just a few hours away from Crocker's Boatyard, which is where our boat was since August of 2023, in case we needed to turn back. We anchored here last year with the Ames Family on the way out to Block Island. We didn't get off the boat and ended the day early enough to get kids to bed and be asleep by 9 pm, which we all needed.

6/2 Anchored at Statue of Liberty- long day 80 miles. Sloooooow at Hells Gate (3-5 knots). It was fun to come back the way we did in 2021 with kids the same age- Moose is age of Bear. Roo is age of Moose. No one younger, but now we have a teenager. Nothing is better than peering at all the buildings, bridges, people playing at the parks, and then turning the last curve and spotting Lady Liberty standing there welcoming us.

We pulled up the harbor view camera and sent the link to our moms and Lori. Got our last Family on our Boat picture in front of the statue, then went to anchor. Cherry on top: Lori got a screenshot of us on the harbor view webcam!

6/3 Docked at Ole Savannah Restaurant, Kingston, NY- They have a free overnight dock if you eat at the restaurant, so we met up with the Russells for dinner. The ladies walked our dogs after. We met another DECL boater with a dog, Barb, and she joined us on our dog walking. Debbie got on our boat and talked us thru locking up and down. I was feeling okay about it before, but Debbie helped me understand some of the dangers and how to best navigate the locks on our boat.

6/4 Docked at Shady Harbor Marina- New Baltimore, NY. We docked across from our friends, The Russells on Gypsies Palace. We bought their Canada locks and mooring passes for $450. They bought it in March with a big discount, but can't use it because the bridge they need to open is broken and they are too tall to pass under it, but we are shorter so we would be fine.

Took the kids to swim in the marina pool for a few hours. Ben worked on things on the boat.
