Benjamin Islands to Turnbull Island, Ontario

Got up early, undid the stern tie, and were on our way to Turnbull Island. Once we were underway, Ben told us we would be there in 9 hours. We were prepared to have a full day of travel, but then Ben realized it was actually a 3ish hour day instead. Ha! Much better.

Our route wound us through a few narrow parts, but nothing we worse than what we'd already been though. It was very pretty.

We found the popular anchorage at Turnbull Island, but decided to venture off on our own to find a more secluded anchorage and found one with a little beach! 

Once we got anchored, Lori, Keith, and Moose (the official stern tie crew) rowed over to the rocks and double stern tied us. 

Moose and Roo set off for the beach on the SUP. He dropped Roo off then came back for Bear. She dropped him off and came back to the boat. 

Moose and Roo were at the beach playing for hours! Everyone else just chilled on the boat for a while. This has been our rolliest anchorage all summer, but we all are looking forward to the rocking to sleep tonight. Maybe that's why everyone else was in another spot. 

The kids came back when they were hungry and Moose told us that he found an axolotl. He brought it back for us to see. It legitimately looked like one with the frills up by the head, but it was a dark green/black color. I Google Lensed it and found out it was a newt, but the kids kept calling it an axolotl. 

We went on a tour to see what Moose and Roo had been working on all day at the beach. Just behind the waterline, they built little pools with nature decor standing up on the sand walls and called it a waterpark for tadpoles and axolotls. They are so creative! 

Our last Chicken ride in Canada took us around to explore the other anchorages. Moose spotted a black sand beach. We weren't sure if it was dirt or black sand, so we went to check it out and it WAS black sand! This made sense because when Lori was stern tying, she commented on the volcanic rock. So cool to find a black sand beach in Canada! 

On our way back, it was calm and Ben was commenting about how this is how our day will be tomorrow and all of a sudden, the motor started jumping and making grinding sounds, and Ben turned it off. Apparently we hit a shallow spot and no one was looking out for rocks in front. Oops. Hopefully our day tomorrow is NOT like that.

We got back to the Cartermaran safely and started to close up for the night. Sasha, Lori, Bear, and I did a quick sunset photoshoot in our new matching Kagawong zip hoodies and then we all went to bed. A great ending to our last night in Canada, eh?
