Nothing to report weed-wise, when we went through Rice Lake. I didn't take any pictures because no weeds were visible. Ben did mention we were going 6.5 knots, slowed down to 5.5 knots, and wondered if what was slowing us down was the weeds under us, but the lake wasn't clear enough to see.
At lock 19- Scotts Mills, the kids got orange dogtags. They're so excited to collect so many and are so hopeful that they'll get a complete rainbow before we finish. I thought there were different colors at each station along the way, but the different colors represent different years!
There was a super swift current into our dock at Peterborough Marina. This was surprising to us because it was in a fairly calm, small lake. We had 2 dockhands helping and then 2 more came sprinting out, down the docks when the saw how the current was pushing us so hard, nearly into the dock. Those dockhands saved our boat, for sure!
We were happy to eventually get tied up, which took longer than usual, and we even had to use a 5th line for added stability. We usually tie with 4, but the Chicken hanging off the back of our boat kept getting pushed just above the hookup post on the dock and we didn't want to break it.
After everything was hooked up and situated, we walked in the rain to Jack's Restaurant, just across the street from the marina, for dinner. The rain stopped while we ate, so our walk back was decent.
Another free laundry stop at this marina, but unfortunately we didn't have a lot of laundry. We did what we had and then attempted to watch game 6, but apparently ESPN only plays in the US and we didn't get to watch the Oilers tie the series, forcing game 7.
We had 2 locks today. Trip total: 90
